Why is it necessary to schedule pins on Pinterest?
- it will save you time! Rather than getting into a pinning frenzy, and half an hour turns into an hour…you can limit your time more effectively if you schedule pins.
- you won’t annoy your followers by clogging up their home feed with pictures of cats or wedding dresses
- this could result in people getting really pissed off, and un-following you, which is sad!
- you are more likely to get more people to see your content if you drip feed it, especially if you schedule pins to go out at peak times.
Choose a scheduling tool.
I personally like Viraltag, formerly pingraphy. Although there are other options out there, such as Curalate which is more expensive, but has super duper analytics. Another option is Pinwoot which has a free scheduling tool.
Viraltag allow you to try it out free for 14 days, and none of this annoying having to give your credit card details. It is a great way to see if you need the scheduling tool, and if it is effective for you.
If you decide to use their scheduling tool, then the monthly packages are very reasonable, and the cheapest I have found so far. If you are just scheduling pins for your own boards, then the $4.99 per month option is ideal, on the other hand, if you are managing accounts for other businesses, then $28 is very cost-effective, and will allow you up to 5 accounts, and unlimited pins.
How to start scheduling.
You first need to add the Viraltag bookmarklet to your bookmark bar. Just grab and drag!
Next, go to the web page that you want to pin an image from, and click on the Viraltag bookmarklet.
This will show all the pinnable images on that page. You then need to select which images you want to pin.
Click on each image, till you get a tick, and then click the Next button in the top right of the screen.
The website address is automatically added. You just now need to choose which board to schedule your pin to, and add a description, not forgetting the keywords! You can also clone and delete here, to add pins to more boards.
You can now schedule your pins. Set the time, date, and time zone. And then click the confirm button.
Analyze.
Viraltag have updated their analytics features, which is a great improvement. You now have the ability to search by date ranges such things as re-pins, followers, likes etc., within a specific time frame.
By looking to see when you have more activity on your account, and then checking the Top Repins, you can see which pins got the most re-pins. You will need to click on the pins and see when you pinned them, which will give you some indication as to which pins got the re-pins on the day when there was a lot of activity.
You can also see which boards are getting the most virality, which is handy in terms of knowing where to concentrate your pinning efforts!
So, go and try it out! Let me know if you have tried any other scheduling tools, and what you thought of them.
Happy Pinning!
